Fresh Pair Alert! Janhvi Kapoor and Kartik Aaryan to star in 'Dostana 2'

Eleven years after the release of the Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra-starrer Dostana, the franchise is now being taken forward. Helmed by Tarun Mansukhani, the romcom created a stir at the box office and since then, had cinegoers asking for an encore. Karan Johar, whose banner Dharma Productions backed the film, is excited about its sequel.

This time around, teen heartthrob Kartik Aaryan and the gorgeous Janhvi Kapoor will lead the cast. Moreover, a male actor will also be launched in the movie that will be helmed by Collin D’Cunha. After successfully launching Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra, Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday, all eyes are on who will be the banner’s new protege and potential star. Collin has previously assisted filmmakers like Reema Kagti on Talaash (2012), Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra on Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013) and Rajkumar Hirani on PK (2014) and Sanju (2018).

Interestingly, the production house has owned the title, Dostana, from the beginning. The banner, started by Karan’s father, Yash Johar, in 1976, began its innings with Dostana (1980), which was directed by Raj Khosla and starred Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha and Zeenat Aman. The romantic drama went on to become a huge hit.
