I may just rent out my fancy new home, says Saif Ali Khan

For someone who has grown up in a palace in Pataudi, and who will inherit it in the future, actor-producer Saif Ali Khan still shows a clear preference for small intimate places. A few years ago, the Bollywood superstar and his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan bought themselves a spacious 15,000-odd square feet home in Bandra. In fact, when they tied the knot in October 2012, one of their ceremonies was held on the terrace of that building.

However, even five years after their marriage the couple continues to live on the 10th floor of Fortune Heights in a four BHK because Saif is not too keen to move into his spacious new home. He says, “I might not move into that place, I may just put it on rent.”

Looking at our quizzical expression, Saif continues, “I have apartments on two floors —the second and the 10th — in this building. I am very happy here. I may just put my fancy new home on rent.” He explains how that place, which is spread across three floors, is rather intimidating. “Honestly, I may just get a bit overwhelmed there,’’ he says. Adding, “There are just three of us — Kareena, Taimur and me. We do not need a floor each. We will be looking for each other.”

The Kaalakaandi actor goes on to say, “Our current home is nice. I love the space upstairs (10th floor) as well as this place on the second floor, which has my office and Taimur’s play area. How much space does one really need? Everything here is sorted. We have our individual spaces, yet there is something warm and nice here. My books, my music, and all the space Bebo needs is here. Of course, if we move there, then I will put these two apartments on rent. Whether it is these two apartments or that huge one, it is the same thing.’’ 

Incidentally, Saifeena’s new pad in Bandra has a fan in Randhir Kapoor. While talking to us earlier, the senior actor had said, “My daughter’s new home is state-of-the art, fancy and plush; it has everything from a swimming pool to a demarcated play area for Taimur. It is also nicely done because my son-in-law has impeccable taste.” And, from what we know, Kareena, too, has plans to move into her new home sooner than later. She was actually hoping to shift earlier this year, but, since 2017 is now drawing to an end, guess that plan will now spill into the next year.
