The media industry was suddenly abuzz. The reason for that is one tweet which mentioned that the much-loved yesteryear actress Mumtaz, who had given girls inspiration in all senses, was no more. The tweet mentioned details which appeared true by every bit.

However Mumtaz, who is very much alive, was shocked to hear about the same and conveyed her message through director Milap Zaveri. Milap responded to all the tweets mentioning the fake news and said that she and her family, including actor Shaad Randhawa, want the rumours to stop.

Zaveri wrote, "Mumtaz Aunty is alive and absolutely fine. Just spoke to her and @Shaadrandhawa her nephew. She would like for the rumors to stop (sic)." In another tweet, the director mentioned that the legendary actress is 'hale and hearty'

The confusion began after trade analyst Komal Nahata tweeted, "Yesteryear actress Mumtaz passed away in her sleep early this morning in Bombay due to cardiac arrest. Funeral tomorrow once her daughter reaches from the USA."

The critic later apologized and wrote, "Extremely sorry for posting news about Mumtaz ji’s demise. By God’s grace, she is hale and hearty. The incorrect news is gaining ground in the film trade. But to set the record straight, Mumtaz ji is absolutely fine."

Mumtaz worked in movies for over four decades, and she ruled the screens in 60s and 70s. The actress then shifted focus to her family. Actor Shaad Randhawa is her nephew. He would soon appear in Milap Zaveri's movie Marjaavaan, which stars Sidharth Malhotra, Riteish Deshmukh, Rakul Preet Singh and Tara Sutaria in lead roles.
