Mandira Bedi says shooting for Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge song 'Mehndi laga Ke Rakhna' was 'not fun'.
Mandira Bedi in a recent interview revealed how she never wanted to take up acting and instead wanted to follow the path of her brother who was a banker, who completed an MBA but she couldn't crack it and ended up doing media communication. The actress also opened up on her experience of shooting for Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.
In an interview with Curly Tales, Mandira recalled the shoot of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge's song 'Mehandi Laga Ke Rakhna' and shared an anecdote from the shoot of the film, she said, “Let me tell you it wasn’t fun”
Mandira, who played the role of Preeti recalled the shoot of the song 'Mehendi Laga Ke Rakhna' and shared, “I remember Saroj Khan telling me, ‘you are shaking your shoulder like Sunny Deol, you need to shake your hips, women shake their hips, men shake their shoulders’. So I was like, ‘Okay, this is not a good start’. And I have very little grace in me. I can lift weights and I can run miles, but I don’t have adayein. Woh adayein mujh mein bilkul bhi nahi hai. It was a little horrifying for me.”
She shared that she shot the song for four days and found it to be a completely different experience than Shanti and said, “Four days, where I am asked to do things I have never done before. Move parts of my body that I have never moved before so let me tell you it wasn’t fun and I was like ‘What have I got myself into?’ With Shanti, I was giving this hard strong looks, but with Preeti, I was made to do many things I have never done before."
Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge also starred Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Amrish Puri, Farida Jalal, and Anupam Kher in key roles. The romantic drama was a major box office success and since then, Kajol and SRK's on-screen pair became a huge hit among the audience. The film's captivating songs still rule the hearts of the audience.
Meanwhile, after starring in films like Ittefaq, Saaho, Badal, Vodka Diaries, and more, the actress made her debut as a fashion designer during Lakme Fashion Week 2014 with her saree collection. Later in 2013, Mandira Bedi launched her signature sari store.
