Zaira Wasim started her career with Aamir Khan's blockbuster film Dangal. She essayed the role of young Geeta Phogat in the film. The biographical sports drama went on to be an all-time blockbuster and collected Rs 2070.3 crore worldwide. The film also starred Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh and the performances of the actors were much appreciated by the audience.
Zaira next starred in a small-budgeted film made in just Rs 15 crore as lead. The actress garnered critical acclaim for her performance in the film, Secret Superstar, which went on to be one of the highest-grossing women-led films. The story of the film is of a young girl (Zaira Wasim), who is a very good singer. The girl uploads her singing videos on YouTube wearing a mask, which is well-liked but she does not reveal her identity due to her problems. The film shows the girl’s struggles in a beautiful manner. The film collected Rs 912 crore worldwide.
Later, Zaira Wasim was seen in the movie The Sky Is Pink starring Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar in 2019. However, even before the release of the film, Zaira her decision to quit acting forever in order to follow the path of Islam. The film tanked miserably at the box office and collected only Rs 28.50 crore worldwide. Therefore, before quitting acting forever, the actress' films grossed Rs 3010 crore at the box office.
