Many Bollywood actors like Kartik Aaryan, Kriti Sanon, and Vicky Kaushal, left engineering to try their luck in acting and became star. However, there is one such actor, who despite giving several hits and blockbusters, failed to become top hero.

The actor we are talking about was restricted to henchman roles because of his looks. Despite having given blockbusters with Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, and Akshay Kumar, the actor is still restricted to doing supporting roles. He is none other than Sharat Saxena.

Sharat Saxena is a popular Indian actor and villain, best known for his supporting roles in several blockbuster movies. He has acted in more than 250 Bollywood films in his career and continues to do give hit films.

Sharat Saxena was born and brought up in Bhopal. did his schooling at St. Joseph Convent School, Bhopal, and Christ Church Boys' Senior Secondary School, Jabalpur. Later, he went on to pursue Engineering in Electronics & Telecommunication from Jabalpur Engineering College. However, he wanted to be an actor and thus he came to Mumbai.

Sharat made his debut in 1974 film Benaam alongside Amitabh Bachchan and was seen in a supporting role in the film. He then went on to work with Amitabh Bachchan and Dev Anand in several Bollywood films like Agent Vinod, Kala Patthar, Des Pardes, Dostana, and more.

He revealed in an interview that due to his looks, he had to let go of many good chances and said, “India has the most colour conscious people in the world we all know that. Black or dark people are not considered as equals. You become very subservient to the white people. People are considered inferior and I have got all those problems, I am dark, I have curly hair, I am muscular and I am tough-looking, so all my good chances go away like that.”

He also talked about being stereotyped and said, “ I have been in this industry for almost 50 years. Out of which for 30 to 35 years I was only doing action. Then I became old and my hair became white I started doing father’s role.”

From Mr India, Ghulam, Gupt, Baghban, Fanaa, Krrish, Reddy, and Soldier among others the actor has given several hits and blockbusters. He even starred alongside Salman Khan in the movie Bajrangi Bhaijaan which went on to be an all-time blockbuster and collected Rs 922 crore worldwide. He has been away from films for the last three years now. He was last seen in the movie Tadap, which failed at the box office.
