Karan Johar is the richest film director of India with a reported net worth of over $200 million (Rs 1700 crore approximately). Johar has earned this tag courtesy his work as a director in over half a dozen films over 25 years as well as his position as the head of Dharma Entertainment, one of the leading production houses in India. Karan Johar leads stalwarts like Rajkumar Hirani (net worth Rs 1300 crore) and Sanjay Leela Bhansali (net worth Rs 900 crore) in this list. Karan Johar’s stellar 100% record at the box office

Karan Johar has been making films for 25 years now and still, he has not directed a single flop. In fact, remarkably, all his films have grossed over Rs 100 crore. His journey as a director began in 1998 with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which earned Rs 107 crore. This was followed by Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham in 2001 (Rs 136 crore), and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna in 2006 (Rs 113 crore). His first challenge was My Name is Khan in 2010, which underperformed at home but was a hit overseas, grossing Rs 223 crore worldwide. Johar experimented with a younger cast in the 2012 release Student of the Year, which earned Rs 109 crore, following it up with Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in 2016 (Rs 240 crore). Last year, he made a comeback to direction with Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (Rs 355 crore).
