From Uday Chopra to Imran Khan, there are many actors who left film industry after delievering a number of flops despite having a successful debut. Another such actress, whose sister was a superstar, quit film after a flop career in Bollywood. 

The actress we are talking about was a fashion designer but left it on one person's advice and decided to become an actress. However, she failed to make a mark in the audiences hearts and later quit acting. She is none other than Shamita Shetty. 

Shamita Shetty did her schooling from St. Anthony's Girls' High School, Mumbai. After completing her degree in commerce from Sydenham College, she did a fashion designing diploma from SNDT College, Mumbai. After this, she did an internship under Manish Malhotra, who saw a spark in her and suggested her to take up acting. She then made her debut in 2001 alongside Uday Chopra, Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Jimmy Shergill in Mohabbatein. The movie emerged to be a blockbuster. 

The actress then made a special appearance in the hit film Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai and became popular for her dance number Sharara Sharara in the movie. Her dance number in Saathiya on Chori Pe Chori also became a hit. However, her next movies including Agnipankh, Anjana, Wajahh: A Reason to Kill, Fareb, Zeher, Bewafa and Cash were either average grossers or flops. In 2008, she made a special  appearance in the movie Hari Puttar: A Comedy of Terrors and after that she left Bollywood. 

The actress then decided to follow her passion of interior designing and later, her love for interior design pushed her to do a diploma from Central Saint Martins and Inchbald School of Design in London. This was followed by an internship with an architect's firm. She then launched her own interior designing company Golden Leaf Interiors. Her first solo project was Royalty, a club in Mumbai.

She then turned to television and participated in several reality shows like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, Khatron Ke Khiladi and Bigg Boss. The actress lives a luxurious life despite being away from films and reportedly has a net worth of Rs 41 crore.
