Some films in Amitabh Bachchan's career are such that they cannot be imagined without him. His angry young man avatar and style of communicating heavy dialogues have all been unmatched. But as often happens in the film industry, many stars are approached for a film but only one of them stars in it. Something similar happened with Amitabh Bachchan's iconic film 'Deewar'. His character in the film gets love from the audiences to this date. However, you will be surprised to know that Amitabh Bachchan was not the first choice for playing the role of Vijay Verma in 'Deewar'.

Amitabh Bachchan's 'Deewar' was released in 1975 and was directed by Yash Chopra. Apart from Amitabh Bachchan, it also starred Shashi Kapoor, Neetu Singh, Parveen Babi, Iftikhar, Madan Puri, Satyen Kappu, and Manmohan Krishna. The budget of the film was approximately Rs 1.30 crore while the film collected Rs 7.50 crore at the box office. It was a super hit at the box office.

You will be surprised to know that Amitabh Bachchan was not the first choice for the film that played such an impactful role in his career. Reports state that the makers of the film first approached Shatrughan Sinha for 'Deewar'. But, because he was busy with other projects at the time, he refused to star in the film. When the script of the film reached Amitabh Bachchan, he said yes to it immediately and the rest, as they say, is history. 'Deewar' is counted among Amitabh Bachchan's most successful films and remains a classic to this date.
