Susmita Sen was only 18 years old when she won Miss Universe in 1994 and created history by becoming the first Indian to win the title.
Former beauty queen, actor Sushmita Sen on Friday took to her Instagram handle to recall memories of the day she made history to become the first-ever Indian to win the Miss Universe crown.
Sharing a throwback photo of her younger self dressed in a pretty, well-fitted vintage-style gown, sporting bangs with her hair tied in a top bun while striking a pose for the camera, Sushmita Sen wrote, "Have you ever stared at the impossible & thanked God for giving you the opportunity to make it possible? I have!!! To my Motherland INDIA...Happpyyyyy 27th Anniversary of India's first ever victory at #MissUniverse in Manila #philippines."
She continued, "That early morning on 21st May 1994, not only changed an 18 yr olds life forever...it made History!! #mahalkita Philippines for the romance we have shared for 27 years & counting Thank you #misscolombia1994 Carolina @carogomezfilms for teaching me undying grace!! Meanwhile, Sushmita's boyfriend Rohman Shawl and daughter Renee too celebrated 27 years of her being crowned Miss Universe.
On the occasion, Rohman took to his Instagram Stories and Sushmita with love. He wrote, "27 years of glory Thank you (Sushmita) for bringing the crown home and thank you for inspiring us eversince #27years #Bestmissuniverseever."
