Taapsee Pannu urges Anubhav Sinha to cast her in his next film based on caste system in India; Here’s how he responded

On Monday, filmmaker Anubhav Sinha, well known for critically acclaimed films Mulk, Article 15, and Thappad, took to his Twitter account and said that according to him the Hindi film industry should make a lot more films on the topic of caste.

The tweet apparently came after actress Kangana Ranaut remarked on caste and reservation, for which she drew a lot of flak from social media users. Responding to Sinha’s tweet, actress Taapsee Pannu tweeted that she would like to be a part of the movie that the filmmaker was proposing to make.

Taapsee tweeted, "Is baar main kar lu (Can I do it this time?) (sic)." To this Sinha reacted by saying, "Badi badmash hai yaar tu, soi nahi ab tak? Kar le yaar tu kar le.(You are so naughty. You are still awake? Alright, you do it)."

An elated Pannu then wrote, "Ok now I can happily call it a day goodnight." For the uninformed, Taapsee Pannu and Kangana Ranaut were recently engaged in a war of words on social media. The latter had called Pannu a B-grade actress to which the Thappad star responded and it turned into an ugly spat between the two. However, Sinha’s tweet came after Kangana received flak for her remarks on caste and reservation in India. She took to her Twitter account to respond to a user who wrote the book Caste: The Origins of Our Discontent by Pulitzer Prize-winning African-American author Isabel Wilkerson was much talked about internationally but not in India.

Kangana wrote, "Caste system has been rejected by modern Indians, in small towns everyone knows it’s not acceptable anymore by law and order its nothing more than a sadistic pleasure for few, only our constitution is holding on to it in terms of reservations, Let Go Of It, let's Talk About It." She had added, "Especially in professions like Doctors engineers, pilots most deserving people suffer reservations, we as a nation suffer mediocrity and brilliance finds a reluctant escape to The United States. Shame."

Consequently, many called out Kangana for presenting a biased opinion on the topic of the caste system and reservation in India, a hashtag ‘#BoycottKangana’ started trending on Twitter as well. On the work front, Sinha will be next seen directing Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai.
