Tahir Bhasin, Anjumm Shharma open up on biggest challenge during Sultan Of Delhi’s filming: ‘We had to…’ | Exclusive

Tahir Raj Bhasin and Anjumm Shharma are all set to enthrall the audience with their upcoming series Sultan Of Delhi. The makers recently unveiled the trailer of the series and left fans excited. The actors recently opened up about the biggest challenge they faced while filming the series. 

In an Exclusive conversation with DNA, Tahir Raj Bhasin and Anjumm Shharma opened up about the challenges they faced while filming Sultan Of Delhi, talked about their bond off-screen, and shared their experience working with Milan Luthria. 

When asked about what made them choose the role in Sultan Of Delhi, Anjumm Shharma and Tahir Raj Bhasin replied, “Milan Luthria.” Anjumm further added, “When you say Milan Luthria, it is not just a name but a legacy it's an experience, and it is basically an era. The moment you hear his name, 2 things suddenly come infront of you, number 1 is scale in whatever kind of work he is doing and drama, music, performances, and apart from these, entertainment, entertainment, entertainment. So these are the things that come infront of you and then when you meet this guy and he tells you the story which is based on a book and you just hear his vision that he trying to create, you get these characters and then such nice characters which he has created. My character Bengali is such a unique and interesting character so yeah it just makes you jump and grab the opportunity and make the most of it.” 

Tahir Raj Bhasin and Anjumm Shharma further opened up on the biggest challenge they faced while shooting for the series which is high on action. Tahir said, “Challenging to me would have definitely been the action because I was doing something at this scale for the very first time and action is something that requires a lot of fitness, and a certain level of comfort with weapons but It wasn’t just an action series but it was action drama. So transitioning from both of those sometimes on the same day was incredibly challenging.” 

Anjumm Shharma further revealed that they both underwent a certain amount of training for the weapons they used in the show and said, “The challenge mainly was the shoot. We knew that we were getting into the show which is high on action and we both had to undergo a certain amount of training for the cars that we were driving because some of the cars were left-hand drive and there were heavy steerings, not the ones we have today power steerings, So it used to tough, steady steerings and the bikes and even the weapons we were using on the show. So there was a certain amount of training that we both had to undergo before we started filming. The way the scale of the show is, and we were shooting in different and quite extreme climates also sometimes. So the most challenging part was to not get tired or drained because of those extreme external conditions and just deliver exactly what was expected out of you.” 

Anjumm Shharma’s Bengali and Tahir Raj Bhasin’s Arjun share a great bond in the show, the actors, however, opened up on their bond off-screen and revealed that their friendship is more to do with their approaches towards craft than just jokes and drinking. Tahir said, “The bond off-screen is something that develops because of the schedule that we have. We have shot in Amritsar, Patiala, and Gujarat, so, starting as colleagues we ended up as friends it’s like you have been on a road trip together while making an adventurous saga on screen. So you can’t help but have a bond. I was very comfortable and usually admire the kind of process that Anjumm brings to the table. He is kind of equally thinking about the part. He likes to immerse himself in the world. If it’s like a serious scene he doesn’t like to be too communicative. So what conventionally you think of as a bonding, you know like jokes or drinking, all of that wasn’t the form of bonding we are talking about, our bond had more to do with our respective approaches towards the craft and how it was aimed at achieving the best for the project.” 

Produced by Reliance Entertainment, Sultan Of Delhi marks the OTT directorial debut of Milan Luthria. The series is co-directed and co-written by Suparn Verma and is set to release on October 13, 2023, on Disney+ Hotstar. The series stars Tahir Raj Bhasin, Anjum Sharma, veteran actor Vinay Pathak alongside Nishant Dahiya and the ladies Anupriya Goenka, Mouni Roy, Harleen Sethi and Mehreen Pirzada along with others in key roles.
