Anurag Kashyap's daughter Aaliyah Kashyap called Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's wedding a "circus".
Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani's youngest son, Anant Ambani, is set to tie the knot with industrialist Viren Merchant and Shaila Merchant's daughter, Radhika Merchant, on July 12. The Ambani family had organised two pre-wedding festivities in Jamnagar in March and in Italy and France in June.
The festivities, organised by Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani, have seen many Bollywood celebrities in attendance. These include Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Katrina Kaif, Sara Ali Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Ananya Panday, Janhvi Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh, Sidharth Malhotra, Kiara Advani, and others.
However, one star kid has refused to attend the wedding and also called it a "circus". She is Aaliyah Kashyap, daughter of filmmaker Anurag Kashyap. Taking to her broadcast channel on Instagram, she wrote, "The Ambani Wedding is not a wedding, at this point, it’s become a circus. I am enjoying stalking everything though. I was invited to some events because apparently they’re doing PR. But I said no because I would like to believe I have a little more self-respect than to sell myself out for someone’s wedding."
The screenshots of her messages went viral on the sub named InstaCelebsGossip on Reddit. While many netizens agreed with the YouTuber, others stated that she too is living a rich and fascinating life being a star kid. Reacting to them, Aaliyah again penned a note on her braodcast channel on Instagram that read, "I made it on InstaCeleb guys, for what I said about Ambani wedding. People are saying I am a nepo and privileged, I don’t know how that has anything to do with me not wanting to go as a PR invite for someone’s wedding when I don’t even know the people whose wedding it is. Why will I go and make PR reels for that?."
In May 2023, Aaliyah got engaged with her longtime boyfriend Shane Gregoire in Bali, Indonesia. Her mother is famous film editor Aarti Bajaj, who tied the knot with Anurag Kashyap in 1997. Anurag and Aarti got divorced in 2009.
