Yash Chopra, to this date, is famous for making films that were ahead of the trend and its time. 'Lamhe' is one popular example of this, however, there is another lesser-known film in this list. This film starred Rajesh Khanna but despite the superstar's presence, the producer of the film was doubtful about its box office returns. The result was that the film was released in only 9 theatres. But, proving everyone wrong, this Rajesh Khanna film touched people's hearts and became a blockbuster. Interestingly, the film we are talking about, apart from Rajesh Khanna, also starred two actresses who famously did not get along with each other. Rajesh Khanna, the lead actor in the film, was also recovering from two box office flops, but after just three shows of the film, Yash Chopra realised that his film was going to be a super hit.

We are talking about the film 'Daag' which was released in 1973. It starred Rajesh Khanna, Rakhee, and Sharmila Tagore in the lead roles. When the film was released, the producers and distributors had a lot of doubts about the story of the film. Because Rajesh Khanna also starred in a string of flop films, 'Daag' was not distributed on a large scale. 'Daag' was released in only 9 theatres but by the evening shows on the day of its release, crowds started pouring in.

It was after this that Yash Chopra understood that his film 'Daag' would become a huge hit. Rakhee, Sharmila Tagore, and Rajesh Khanna helped Yash Chopra a lot in making this film by working at a lesser fee than the market rate. Rakhee even gave Rs 3 lakh from her own pocket to make the film.

The interesting thing about 'Daag' is that its two lead actresses Rakhee and Sharmila Tagore did not get along well. But, for Yash Chopra's sake, both of them thought it best to remain quiet on the set and work together. Reports state that the alleged feud between Sharmila and Rakhee was spread to increase the buzz around the film and it eventually played a huge role in its success.
