Here are top 10 most expensive divorce settlements ever

Co-founders of Black Entertainment Television Bob Johnson and Sheila Johnson were married from 1969 to 2002.

In 2000, the couple even became the first African-American billionaires, and when the couple divorced in 2002, Sheila Johnson acquired $400 million, according to ABC News.

The half-a -million dollar settlement till date remains the most expensive divorce settlement in Hollywood. It costed half of the actor's wealth. 

Craig McCaw and his newspaper publisher wife Wendy McCaw amicably divorced in 1997. Their divorce settlement exceeded to $460 million in Nextel stock, Forbes reported.

Elena Rybolovleva filed for divorce with Russian businessman Dmitry Rybolovlev citing infidelity. The court initially awarded the wife a massive $4.5 billion in the settlement in 2014, but after an appeal, she got $604 million. 

Saudi Arabian arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi divorced his wife Sandra Daly in 1974 and their settlement totaled a then-record $874 million dollars. 

Oklahoma oilman Harold Hamm and Sue Ann Arnall, an economist and lawyer, ended their marriage of 27 years in 2015, with the Continental Resources chief executive reportedly writing her a check for nearly $975 million. Arnall appealed in court for a larger settlement but was denied because she had already deposited the check.

Steve Wynn and his wife Elaine divorced for the second time in early 2010, with the Las Vegas casino owner agreeing to pay her a reported $741 million in the stock of his company, Wynn Resorts. The couple met in college and first launched a 23-year marriage in 1963 that ended in their first divorce in 1986. They remarried five years later.

Formula One executive Bernie Ecclestone, one of the richest people in the United Kingdom, divorced Croatian model Slavica Radić in 2009.The settlement was estimated at $1.2 billion. The details of their settlement are still under cover, but some reports claimed that Radić seems to be the one paying Ecclestone.

Media magnate Rupert Murdoch and Anna Torv ended their 31-year marriage in 1999. Torv, a Scottish journalist and novelist, was Murdoch's second wife and is mother to their adult children Elisabeth, Lachlan and James. She reportedly walked away with $1.7 million, mostly in News Corp stock. Torve, now known as Anna Murdoch Mann, and Murdoch both went on to remarry.

The most expensive divorce happened in 1999, when French-American businessman and art dealer Alec Wildenstein divorced his wife of 21 years, Jocelyn Wildenstein.

The proceedings resulted in Jocelyn being awarded $2.5 billion and $100 million for each of the next 13 years, according to People.
