He is chairperson of Hatsun Agro Product limited. It is one of the country's largest private dairy companies by sales. He is also one of the richest people in India and the richest ice-cream manufacturer.
His company sources milk from 400000 farmers across 10000 villages. His company also exports dairy ingredients to over 42 companies.
He is based in Chennai. He is also called a human computer because of his command over numbers.
His father was a small provision shop owner. He started his career with a job at a timber depot with a meagre salary of Rs 65.
He opened his ice cream business with just 3 workers. He used to sell his icecreams on 15 pushcarts. His initial capital was Rs 13000.
In 1981, he started Arun ice cream. He concentrated on the rural areas.
Chandramogan is the chairman, his son C Sathyan runs Hatsun now as Managing Director.
