Rajni Bector, born in Karachi, migrated to Ludhiana during the partition. At just 17, she married into a local business family. With her children away at boarding school, Rajni took the opportunity to enroll in a bakery course at Punjab Agriculture University.

Her baking and ice-cream recipes quickly became popular among friends, prompting her to start a small business. With an initial investment of Rs 300, she bought an oven and began making ice-cream in her backyard. However, the business soon faced financial difficulties. Rajni's husband, Dharamvir, stepped in with Rs 20,000 to help her start an ice-cream manufacturing unit in 1978.

She named her brand Cremica, inspired by the Hindi words ‘cream ka’ (made of cream). Starting with ice-creams, Rajni expanded the business. Despite the challenges of the 1980s, Rajni excelled with her family's support and turned Cremica into a success.

According to reports, Cremica is India's second-largest exporter of biscuits, with products available in over 60 countries. The brand is also the preferred supplier of western desserts at most weddings in North India. Cremica boasts an impressive annual turnover of Rs 7,000 crore.

Her journey serves as an inspiration to millions of aspiring Indian women entrepreneurs.
