Pakistan's captain, Nida Dar, won the toss and chose to bat first against India led by Harmanpreet Kaur in the Women's Asia Cup 2024 at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla on Friday.
India comes into the tournament as the clear favorites, having emerged victorious in seven of the last eight editions. Harmanpreet's squad is also the reigning champions, having secured the title in the previous tournament held in Bangladesh in 2022.
This eight-team tournament will be played in the T20I format for the fifth consecutive edition, serving as a crucial stepping stone for the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup scheduled to take place in October-November in Bangladesh. India heads into the match following a 1-1 T20I series draw against South Africa. Meanwhile, Pakistan enters the contest after suffering a 0-3 defeat to England at home in May.
