After a month of cricketing extravaganza named T20 World Cup 2022 came to a halt, cricket fans have the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 auction updates to look forward to as the BCCI's deadline to all franchises for providing the final list of retained and released players approaches close.
All the 10 IPL franchises have to submit their list of retained and released players to BCCI before November 15, 5 PM IST. While the two most successful teams of IPL, Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have already provided their list, the other 8 franchises are also finalising their plans ahead of the IPL 2023 auction which will take place in Kochi on December 23.
There have already been plenty of moves being made by franchises as Mumbai Indians traded Jason Behrendroff from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), while Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Lockie Ferguson joined Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) from Gujarat Titans (GT).
The most high-profile Indian player to be traded was Shardul Thakur who joined KKR from Delhi Capitals (DC). As the deadline day approaches, here are the latest updates and rumours before IPL retention day on November 15.

Mumbai Indians have released as many as 13 players, including Kieron Pollard but still have the core of the same players intact.

While it was earlier reported that Rajasthan Royals have released Ashwin, the veteran spinner has been retained by the Jaipur-based franchise. RR bought Ashwin for Rs 5 crore at the IPL 2022 mega auction.

Indian veteran spinner R Ashwin has been released by the Rajasthan Royals who bought him for Rs 5 crore in IPL mega auction 2022. He earlier played for CSK from 2008-15, and then for Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Capitals.
Former West Indies skipper Dwayne Bravo has been released by his long-term IPL team Chennai Super Kings. Bravo was part of CSK from 2011-2015 and then 2018-2022. He has also played for Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Lions in his IPL career.
Mumbai Indians, who will be without icon Kieran Pollard after his retirement from IPL, are set to release Jamaican bowling all-rounder Fabian Allen. The West Indian player was bought by MI in 2022 mega-auction after having played for Punjab Kings in IPL 2021.
Van Der Dussen & Daryl Mitchell, Marcus Stoinis has been retained by Lucknow Supergiants. Alex Hales has also opted out of IPL 2023, and will join the likes of Alex Hales and Sam Billings who will also miss te next IPL adventure due to personal reasons.

Green had lit up India vs Australia bilateral series ahead of the World Cup, and his all-round skills would be much in demand among teams, with many Australian players not available, he would be a priced commodity surely.
Rajasthan Royals have retained Devdutt Padikkal for IPL 2023 season according to multiple reports. However, the inaugural IPL champs may part with Ravichandran Ashwin ahead of the IPL auction. With less than an hour to go before the final deadline for the list to be submitted to BCCI, the final names retained by every team should start coming out in a while.
Chennai Super Kings have considered releasing Dwayne Bravo and Ambati Rayudu. The move would come as a shock to loyal CSK fans, but with the pair not getting any younger, the franchise may have to let go of some big-name players. Elsewhere, KKR have let go of Aaron Finch, the Australian T20 skipper will not may in IPL 2023 due to the Ashes next year.
Kolkata Knight Riders continue to make some major changes for IPL 2023 as they have reportedly let go of Shivam Mavi, Mohammad Nabi and Chamika Karunaratne. KKR have been the most active team in terms of incomings, having secures the services of Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Lockie Ferguson and Shardul Thakur.
According to the latest reports, Ajinkya Rahane might be released by Kolkata Knight Riders. The two time IPL champs may part ways with the veteran Indian batsman who doesn't play a lot of white-ball cricket these days, and has not played for the Indian Test team for a while.

Stoinis was one of the three pre-auction picks at the draft for the new franchise Lucknow Super Giants. The Goenka-owned franchise acquired his services for INR 9.2 Crore.
Along with Stoinis, Jason Holder is also expected to be released.
