Shubman Gill's impressive knock of 121 and Axar Patel's late surge of 42 were unfortunately in vain as Bangladesh emerged victorious, defeating India by a narrow margin of 6 runs in the final Super 4 match of the Asia Cup 2023 on Friday. Despite their valiant efforts, India fell short of the 266-run target, being bundled out for 259 in 49.5 overs. Mustafizur Rahman shone with his exceptional bowling skills, claiming three crucial wickets for Bangladesh.
In the earlier innings, Shakib Al Hasan showcased his brilliance with a remarkable score of 80, while Tohwid Hridoy contributed with a solid half-century of 54 runs. Their efforts propelled Bangladesh to a fighting total of 265 for 8 in their allotted 50 overs. On the Indian side, Shardul Thakur displayed his bowling prowess by taking three wickets. It is worth mentioning that captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Rohit Sharma: We are gonna field first. It is something we haven't done in the tournament, we haven't done it under lights so it gives us an opportunity to bat under lights. The wicket honestly has got everything for everyone. Pacers who bend their back in the daytime have also got movement and there have been assistance for the spinners. Got to be brave and play your natural game. We got to give game time to some other guys who haven't played. We have made five changes, Tilak makes his debut. Shami and Prasidh also come in. Suryakumar also gets a game.
Shakib Al Hasan: I was a bit confused to what to do and it's not a bad thing for us to bat first. The guys haven't played much and they will get opportunities. Tanzim is making his debut, so very excited for him.
Virat Kohli has showcased an exceptional performance against Bangladesh, with a total of 807 runs in 15 innings. His impressive strike rate of 101.25 and an average of 67.25 demonstrate his consistency and dominance on the field. Kohli has achieved three half-centuries and an impressive four centuries against Bangladesh.
According to AccuWeather, there is a chance of thunderstorms and rain between 5-6 pm. However, beyond that time, the weather conditions in Colombo are expected to be ideal. Even if it does rain, it won't have much impact as India has already secured their spot in the final, and Bangladesh is out of contention after losing both their matches.
