There are a total of 12 players in the IPL 2021 auction who have a base price of Rs 1.5 crore while there are 11 players with Rs 2 crore base price.
A total of 57 spots are vacant after the player release and retain list on January 22. A total of 1097 players have registered for the auction with most entries coming from the West Indies (56) followed by Australia (42) and South Africa (38). The player registration deadline closed on Thursday and the list comprises 207 international players including 21 capped Indians. Twenty-seven players will represent the associate nations and 863 uncapped cricketers, including 743 Indians and 68 overseas. An IPL statement said, “If every franchise were to have the maximum of 25 players in their squad, 61 players will be taken in the auction (of which up to 22 may be overseas players).”
The highest base price for the player is Rs 2 crore while the lowest is Rs 20 lakh. There are a fair share of players in IPL 2021 who have registered in the range of Rs 1 to Rs 2 crore. There are some major names in the form of James Pattinson, Mitchell Starc and Joe Root who have not registered for the IPL 2021 auction. In IPL 2021 Auction, there are 11 players who are in the high-end Rs 2 crore bracket while there are 12 players who are in the Rs 1.5 crore base price club.
1. Adam Lyth
