Team India captain Rohit Sharma, along with Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja, made the decision to retire from T20I cricket last month following their victory in the T20 World Cup. This historic win ended India's 11-year wait for an ICC title, with a thrilling victory over South Africa in Barbados.

Virat Kohli announced his retirement during the final match, while Rohit Sharma confirmed his decision during the post-match press conference. Speculation has since been swirling about Rohit's future in other formats of the game.

At 37 years old, Rohit Sharma is approaching the later stages of his career. However, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has reassured fans that Rohit will continue to lead the team at least until the next World Test Championship final, should India qualify.

Shah has also confirmed that Rohit will captain the team in the 2025 Champions Trophy and lead them through the upcoming WTC campaign, with the goal of reaching a third consecutive final.

Recently, Rohit put an end to rumors about his overall retirement plans during a visit to the US for the launch of a cricket academy in Dallas.

“I just said it. I don't do that far ahead. So clearly, you will be seeing me play for a while,” said Rohit at the event.
