Former Indian cricket team head coach Rahul Dravid captured the hearts of fans worldwide with his selfless act of generosity. Despite being entitled to Rs 5 crore from the team's Rs 125 crore prize money for winning the T20 World Cup 2024 title, Dravid chose to forego half of his share. This decision was made in solidarity with his support staff, including bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, fielding coach T Dilip, and batting coach Vikram Rathore, who were each set to receive Rs 2.5 crore.

While Dravid's noble gesture was met with widespread praise, it was revealed that India captain Rohit Sharma was the true catalyst behind this act of unity. Sharma initially offered to relinquish his prize money to ensure that all members of the support staff were duly recognized and rewarded for their contributions.

According to a report in Dainik Jagran, the initial distribution plan of Rs 125 crore would have resulted in some support staff receiving a lower amount. This prompted Rohit to selflessly give up his share of Rs 5 crore to ensure that no one was paid less after India's triumphant victory in the T20 World Cup 2024.

A member of the team, speaking to the reporter during the chartered flight back from Barbados to India, revealed that Rohit was dissatisfied with the disparity in prize money and was willing to sacrifice his own share to ensure fair compensation for all.

Subsequently, the BCCI decided to allocate Rs 2 crore each to strength and conditioning coaches, physios, analysts, and other support staff.

Rohit Sharma made headlines by announcing his retirement from T20Is following India's historic win in the T20 World Cup 2024. India's flawless performance led them to become the first team to win the tournament without losing a single game, culminating in a thrilling victory over South Africa in the final.
