Prime Minister Narendra Modi graciously hosted the victorious Indian cricket team, winners of the T20 World Cup 2024, at his residence on Thursday. Led by Rohit Sharma, the team emerged triumphant after defeating South Africa in a thrilling final match. However, the joy of the victory was tempered by the unexpected retirement announcements of key players Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja from T20I cricket.
Despite the bittersweet moment, the team was welcomed with great fanfare upon their return to New Delhi after facing delays in Barbados due to inclement weather. The players had the opportunity to engage in a candid and meaningful conversation with Prime Minister Modi during their visit to his residence, which lasted until 1 PM.
Among the players present was Suryakumar Yadav, who has garnered attention for a social media post from seven years ago that has resurfaced amidst the nationwide celebrations of the team's victory.
"Thank you sir @narendramodi Ji for this step. Very happy to be a part of @swachhbharat . May b a selfie someday in real if I get lucky. Haha," sky posted in 2017.
