The @sganguly99 account has shared a post advising Virat Kohli and other Indian batsmen after India's loss in the first test againt England.
Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has said that an Instagram account bearing his name is fake.
Ganguly, who has a verified accound on Twitter, posted about it on Monday night. Many media organisations and news agencies have quoted the account as it shared a post advising Virat Kohli and other Indian batsmen after India's loss in the first test againt England.
He tweeted, "My Instagram page is a fake one ..please don’t pick up any news or quotes from it ..Will report to Instagram immediately"
There is an account on Instagram with the user name @sganguly99 that posts things related to the former Indian captain. The account already has 55.3k followers. It describes the page as "Ex Captain: Indian Cricket Team | President : CAB | Co-Owner : ATK | Author : Juggernaut Books [ Post from Sourav himself are signed - SG ]".
Sourav Ganguly is active on twitter and keeps posting updates for his fans.
The Instagram account has posted a picture of Ganguly after the first test. The picture also had long caption where Ganguly supposedly commented on India's loss against England.
India lost the series-opener by 31 runs as the Indian batsmen, with the exception of Kohli, failed to tackle the English attack.
In the post, Ganguly has urged Indian batsmen Murali Vijay and Ajinkya Rahane to bat with more determination and advised skipper Virat Kohli to not chop and change the playing XI after defeat in the first Test against England.
The instagram said, "If you've to win a Test then everyone has to score runs." He said, "This was the first Test in a 5 match series & I think this team has the capability to come back & play well. #AjinkyaRahane & #MuraliVijay will have to show some determination since they have scored runs in these conditions before."
