Who will Virat Kohli choose between KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant to keep wickets against New Zealand?

From playing as the opener to one down to even at the fifth spot and when needed even wicketkeeping for India - KL Rahul has done it all in the past few days.

Showing his merit, the batsman is creating a dilemma for team management. 

Rahul, in the series-opener against Australia, played a fine knock of 47 while sharing a century-plus stand with Shikhar Dhawan. 

In the do-or-die second game, he blasted 80 from just 52 balls to help India post 340 and was even made to keep after Rishabh Pant suffered a concussion.

It will surely be a tough decision for the team-management to relieve Rahul of the wicketkeeping duties once Pant returns. 

But as for the time being, it looks like Rahul will be preferred ahead of the young lad.

Speaking after the third ODI, India skipper Virat Kohli made it clear that the team management is unlikely to tinker with the playing XI in the T20Is against New Zealand. 

“Well look we have what we have in the team. As I said, Rahul brings in balance into the side. We have to persist with it as he has done well. We have to see whether it works, you cannot chop and change. I do not see why we should change this playing XI,” Kohli said.

Earlier, India head coach Ravi Shastri had also spoken about the idea of using KL Rahul as the wicketkeeper in T20Is. 

As for the New Zealand tour, the Men in Blue will take on the Kiwis in five T20Is, three ODIs and two Tests. The first T20I will be played on Friday, January 24.
