The lineup for the semifinals of the Women's Asia Cup 2024 was finalized on Wednesday following a dominant performance by Sri Lanka against Thailand in the final group game of the tournament.

Led by Chamari Athapaththu, the Sri Lankan team secured a hat-trick of wins, joining defending champions India as the only teams to achieve this feat. They comfortably defeated Thailand by 10 wickets in Group B, chasing down a modest target of 94 runs with their skipper scoring an unbeaten 49 and Vishmi Gunaratne contributing 39 not out. The victory ensured their spot in the semifinals.

With India and Pakistan already qualifying from Group A, the four semifinalists have now been determined. India, the group winners, will face Bangladesh, the second-ranked team from Group B, in the first semifinal. Meanwhile, Pakistan, the Group A runners-up, will take on Sri Lanka, the Group B table-toppers, in the other semifinal. It is worth noting that Bangladesh is the only other team besides India to have won the Women's Asia Cup.

The knockout matches are scheduled to take place on July 26, Friday. The India vs Bangladesh semifinal will kick off at 2 PM, followed by the Pakistan vs Sri Lanka clash at 7 PM. The final of the tournament is set to be held on Sunday, July 28.
