New initiative to ensure better communication with parents, more focus on students’ growth
To ensure focus on growth of a student, the Gautam Buddha Nagar district administration has initiated the concept of parent teacher meetings in government schools from Saturday. All government schools will have to organise a parent-teacher meeting every three months.
According to officials, the step was initiated to enhance quality of education after Noida MLA requested the administration to initiate this step. In the same regard, the first PTM took place on Saturday in all 675 government schools of Gautam Buddha Nagar.
“It was great to witness that a large number of parents visiting the school and interacting with teachers to know the educational growth of their kids. We are sure that regular PTMs will further enhance the quality of education in our government schools and children will be greatly benefited by the same,” said BN Singh, District Magistrate, Gautam Buddha Nagar.
According to district officials, the government schools will maintain the data of these meetings which will be checked.
“We will conduct random checks at schools to attend meetings and will check the data maintained to ensure smooth functioning of this procedure. We want students of government schools to get proper attention, like private schools,” Singh added.
According to the parents, school authorities have informed all the parents about it and are happy that they will be able to keep a check on kids’ activities in the schools.
“These periodical interactions with teachers will further help us to monitor the growth of our kids and would be really helpful for their studies. We will be get to know what our kid is doing in school,” said Vishnu Singh, a parent.
Noida MLA Pankaj Singh visited sector-12 primary school to take stock of the ongoing PTM. He interacted with parents, students and teachers to know their feedback on the concept.
“Both teachers and parents expressed their delight over the concept and said this initiative will ensure a two-way communication between schools and parents and would help in keeping a tab on children’s studies and all-round development,” said Singh.
Accordinng to Basic Education Officer BalKrishna Mukund, many students in government schools are from poor background and their parents are not bothered about their studies. Through this meeting, they will come to know the importance of education and the performance of their kids.
Over 78,000 students from classes 1 to 8 studying in 685 schools in the district will be covered under the initiative.
