One of the toughest exams to crack to become an Indian IAS officer is the UPSC exam. To pass the test, a person study religiously for several hours. Every year, thousands of candidates seek to take the exam to become IAS, IFS, IPS, and IRS. Only a few number of them succeed in the most competitive exam, which consists of three parts: preliminary exam, main exam, and interview. Today we will talk about a bodybuilder, powerlifter, and IRS officer, Ravi Kapoor who is now mentoring lakhs of UPSC aspirants.

Former IRS official Ravi Kapoor defied conventional educational norms since he struggled with both academic and personal challenges while growing up. He succeeded in bodybuilding and powerlifting while battling obesity and academic difficulties, winning medals and titles for India in the Asian Powerlifting Championship. In 2008, he earned the title of Mr. Delhi then he began playing for Delhi Rugby Club in 2009.

However, the unfortunate incident during the rugby game gave Ravi a tremendous sense of purpose. Despite having no official intellectual background, he started preparing for the UPSC examination. He surpassed all stereotypes and cracked the competitive exam in the first attempt. As an IRS officer, Ravi's first posting was in the customs department at Chennai airport.

Simultaneously, Ravi's passion for powerlifting continued, culminating in a win in the 2017 Global Powerlifting Championship. Despite his achievements, Ravi remained attuned to the flaws in the education system. He has written books and blogs out of his interest for the UPSC. His vision was to make UPSC preparation accessible for all.

When UPSC candidates started coming to him for advice and guidance, Kapoor said he knew it was time to change directions in his life. Since then, Kapoor started providing free mentorship to many UPSC aspirants, including many who have since cleared the competitive exam.
