    Many Indians are making the country proud by leading top positions across the world in various fields including IT, space technology and more. They grew up in India and later moved abroad for better opportunities. One such person is Aroh Barjatya, who led NASA's sounding rockets mission during a solar eclipse in April 2024. Aroh is a professor of Engineering Physics and Director of Space and Atmospheric Instrumentation Lab at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) in Florida.

    He is an Indian-born researcher who moved to the US in 2001. He began his career as a research assistant at Space Dynamics Laboratory in September 2001. Aroh has more than 16 years of experience in space systems engineering and aerospace instrumentation research. Aroh did his schooling in Patalganga near Mumbai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Pilani, Solapur. He completed his electronics engineering from Walchand Institute of Technology, Solapur. He was born to Ashok Kumar Barjatya, a chemical engineer, and Rajeshwari, a homemaker. His sister Apurva Barjatya is a mechanical engineer. 

    Aroh completed his master's in electrical and electronics engineering at Utah State University. He also pursued his PhD in spacecraft instrumentation from the same university. The man recently visited Washington DC to attend NASA Heliophysics Advisory Committee meetings.

    NASA's sounding rockets mission

    The three sounding rockets were launched from Wallops, a rocket launch site, carrying instruments to measure disturbances in the electrified region of Earth’s atmosphere called ionosphere when the Moon eclipses the Sun for a short time.
