A film and a Jaguar for Upendra on birthday

Post Super, fans have been eagerly waiting for Kannada actor-director Upendra to return to direction. And not wanting to keep them waiting any longer, Uppi will be announcing his next directorial today, which also happens to be his birthday. We were also informed that this will be the first film to be produced under his wife, Priyanka Upendra’s home banner — Upendra Productions.

The story, screenplay and dialogues will be handled by Upendra himself. The title of the film and the story have been kept under wraps for now though. But sources say that the film may be called Upendra 2 and will rest on a highly philosophical thought. All that the very tight-lipped Uppi said was, “I will reveal a few more details at a later date. Until then people can take a guess looking at the poster we have released.”

The intriguing poster is a jumble of symbols, numbers and letters, so our guess is as good as yours! He is not very  forthcoming about the cast either. But when we asked if Priyanka will be acting along with him, he said, “No. She will produce and I will direct and act.” 

However, what we do know is that Priyanka has gifted her hubby a car for his birthday. “She really surprised me with a Jaguar! I’m enjoying all the attention and love I’m getting and am only looking forward to spending the day with family and fans.

In fact, every year I dedicate this day to my fans. Lots of them come home every year and I just look at entertaining and spending time with them,” he says.

What will add to the celebratory mood prevailing in Sandalwood today, apart from Uppi’s birthday, is those of actors Shruti and the late Vishnuvardhan. While Shruti is planning to spend a quiet b’day with family, fans of Vishnuvardhan can relive his memories by visiting a photo exhibition being held at the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat.
