Here's the real story of Priyanka Chopra's friendship with Meghan Markle aka Duchess of Sussex

All eyes were set on the much anticipated royal wedding of the year on May 19, 2018, as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle became man and wife. While thousands of fans came down to the Windsor Castle to witness them exchange the wedding vows, those back home in India had eyes only for our very own desi girl, Priyanka Chopra, who was among the select few Indian faces at the Royal Wedding. The actress looked every bit of a royalty herself as she watched her good friend walk down the aisle for the new and most amazing chapter of her life. 

Priyanka later shared a few pictures from the royal wedding and penned down her heartfelt wishes for Meghan Markle. She wrote, "Every once in a while there is a moment when time stands still.. that happened today.. You my friend.. were the epitome of grace, love and beauty. Every choice made at this wedding by you both will go down in history, not just because it was your wedding but because this incredible wedding stood for change and hope. Both things that the world needs desperately. Thank you for being the perfect picture of all things good.. seeing your union and love blessed in front of my eyes Made me so happy.. and tear up!  I wish you both love happiness and togetherness always.."

While Priyanka's special bond of friendship with the Duchess of Sussex is not hidden from anyone as both PC and Markle have spoken about and stood by each other at numerous occasions, not many are aware aboout how they first met and became friends. Don't worry, we've got you covered. Here's a quick precap for all those who're uninitiated.

Priyanka Chopra and Meghan Markle first met at an event which  was all about women. PC told the People magazine in a September 2017 interview that she first met the now Duchess of Sussex at the annual Women in Television dinner hoster by Elle. PC was quoted as saying, "We bonded as actors. We just became frineds, like two girls would."

In May 2017, in a conversation with Wendy Williams, Priyanka shared that she had known Meghan Markle for "about two years now" after randomly meeting at a party during which they got along really well. 

On the other hand, Meghan Markle told PTI in July 2016, "Priyanka is unbelievable," Markle said. "She has become a really good friend. ELLE Magazine in the U.S. hosted a dinner celebrating Women in TV, and we met that night — turns out that she really likes Suits."

Markle further told PTI, "And you know when you meet someone and you just click...It was an easy, natural progression."Meghan had also interviewd Priyanka for her lifestyle blog The Tig. Post that they became pretty good friends. They would hang out quite reqularly. Markle also shared that they've both managed to stay in touch via email and text messages and they try to catch up with each other whenever they're both in the same town. 

Turns out that Markle and PC have quite a lot in common, including the cause of gender equality and other humanitarian work. Markle had also told PTI that she would love to do a Bollywood film with Priyanka. "I would love to work with her on a film one day! I told her specifically that my dream is to work with her on a Bollywood film, because I think it would be so much fun — she said I should do it!"

Several pictures of both Priyanka and Meghan enjoying drinks by the swimming pool in Malibu and chilling with their other gal pals can be found on Priyanka's Instagram account. Meghan too had shared several pictures from those good time that they'd had but unfortunately, those pics were lost after Meghan's Instagram page was deactivated post her engagement with Prince Harry back in November 2017.

Priyanka was bombarded with questions about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle before they were officially engaged and were regularly clicked by the paparazzi. On the May 2017 Wendy Williams's show, the host asked PC about being friends with Prince Harry's "girlfriend" and to that, Priyanka immediately corrected her saying, "Also, Meghan Markle - actress, Suits, her achievements."

While Priyanka was promoting her American TV show Quantico on shows like The View, Good Morning America, What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. While some asked if she's decided on what to wear, if she's chosen the gift , if she's met Prince Harry, if Markle cried on seeing her wedding dress, others simpley wanted to know if she has a plus one invite to the roayal wedding. But just like good friends, Priyanka never let any detail slip out of her tongue, and handled all those questions about Meghan Markle's wedding with Prince Harry like a boss!
