Kannada star Darshan, his longtime partner Pavithra Gowda, and their associates are currently locked up in a Bengaluru jail in connection with the murder of the actor's fan Renukaswamy. As the shocking case has been grabbing headlines in Karnataka, Kannada filmmakers are rushing to the film chamber to register titles related to the case. But, the multiple requests from several filmmakers are being turned down as the case is still going on in court.

The titles, which have been asked by the filmmakers for registration, include D-Gang, Pattanagere Shed, and Khaidi No 6106. D-Gang comes from Darshan's nickname D-Boss, Pattanagere Shed is the place where Renukaswamy was allegedly murdered by the actor and his associates, and 6106 is the prisoner number assigned to Darshan in the Central Prison, Bangalore.

Filmmaker Rocky Somli, who approached the film chamber with the D-Gang title, told The Times of India, "We had zeroed in on this title 2 years ago, and I even have a song composed on similar lines. All this was done way before Darshan was arrested. In fact, it has nothing to do with the ongoing case. After Darshan’s arrest, I saw many news channels running programmes with similar titles, and that is when it struck us to register the title before anybody else does. But the film chamber has refused to approve it. We hope we get the title because it was planned 2 years ago and we have enough proof to show that."

Darshan's fans have been showing their unconditional support towards the actor using the hashtag #KhaidiNo6106 on social media. They have also got the number tattooed and imprinted as vehicle stickers. The actor, Pavithra Gowda, and his associates will remain in custody till July 4.
