Malayalam actor Dileep who has been charged in actress abduction and assault case has been welcomed back into AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes) after Mohanlal's appointment as its new President. This hasn't gone down well with the other members in the film body as actresses Rima Kallingal, Remya Nambeesan and Geethu Mohandas among others have quit the AMMA.

Even the survivor has quit the organisation as well. As per News Minute report, the survivor wrote to the film body which reads, "Prior to this, this actor has snatched away opportunities of acting from me. When i had complained at that time, AMMA did not act seriously on my complaint. And when such a terrible incident happened, an organisation that I am also a part of tried to protect the man who has been accused of the crime. Realising that there is no purpose in being a part of such an organisation, I hereby resign."

Remya Nambeesan is also shocked by Dileep being roped into the association and has resigned in solidarity with the victim. She said, “I was shocked to learn from the media the move to take up the issue which was not even in the general body agenda and then follow it up with a decision to reinstate the actor. The body clearly did not think of its member who was the victim of the attack when the decision was being made."

Geetu Mohandas also feels the same way and has chosen to disassociate herself with AMMA. She said, “As a member of the panel, I had realised much earlier that to question the association from within would always be difficult. This association needs members who will fall in line and not question decisions of the leadership."

The NewsMinute also quoted  Rima Kallingal note which reads, "What happened right now is not a problem that can be confined to a single person or a single organisation. I'm not leaving 'AMMA' for just this one problem. I'm leaving with the hope that the next generation will be able to courageously continue with full self-respect and without making any compromises."

AMMA had previously removed Dileep after he was arrested in actress abduction and assault case.
