Sandalwood drugs case: Vivek Oberoi's house raided by CCB in attempt to nab his brother-in-law Aditya Alva

In a recent development in the Sandalwood drugs case, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the Bengaluru Police on Thursday raided actor Vivek Oberoi's house in Mumbai in pursuit of his brother Aditya Alva, one of the prime accused in the drug trafficking case who has been absconding since September 4. 

Bengaluru CCB obtained a court search warrant and raided actor Vivek Oberoi's house based on a tip-off that they received suggesting that Aditya is hiding in his sister Priyanka's house. 

Priyanka Alva, daughter of former Karnataka minister late Jeevaraj Alva and reputed dancer Nandini and Vivek Oberoi tied the knot on October 29, 2010.

Earlier, on October 6, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the Bengaluru Police conducted raids at the residence of Ricky Rai, son of late underworld don Muttappa Rai, in connection with the drugs case involving Sandalwood celebrities.

Speaking to reporters, a senior official pointed out that the raids were conducted at Rai`s sprawling farmhouse in Bidadi in Ramanagara district and a flat in Sadashivanagar here.

In August earlier this year, filmmaker Indrajit Lankesh exposed the Sandalwood drugs racket and reportedly named at least 15 people in the Kannada film industry who were involved in drug trafficking. Aditya Alva, Shivaprakash Chuppi and Sheik Faazilis are a few of the prime accused in the said case. 

The drug racket is suspected to supply recreational and party drugs to Sandalwood actors, children of VIPs, students and others.

Besides Kannada actresses Ragini Dwivedi and Sanjjanaa Galrani, over 20 drug peddlers, party organisers and others have been arrested in the investigation so far.

The CCB is investigating the drug abuse case after the Narcotics Control Bureau arrested three people hailing from Kerala in Bengaluru, who were allegedly supplying drugs to Kannada film actors and singers last month.
