Shah Rukh Khan turns 20

Actor Shah Rukh Khan, who’s currently in London shooting for filmmaker Yash Chopra’s next, completed two glorious decades in the film industry yesterday.

The industry has been abuzz about the actor having completed 20 years in the entertainment world. In fact, just few days ago, SRK turned radio jockey for a live show on a popular Brit radio station, and was at his wittiest best as he spoke to fans for three hours about his career, his foray into acting, his passion for films and much more.

The actor was in a rather mellow mood, as he reminisced about 20 years of his life that had “passed by in a blur”.

In fact, the actor also took to Twitter to express his thoughts. Remembering his mom’s words as he spoke about angels that have protected him over the past decade, he posted, “20 uninterrupted yrs of serving. Not enuff talent or looks or game plan. thank u all. I guess i got lucky, lucky to be working all the time. Made mistakes,still continue to do so.A little madness.A bit of solitude.2 silly to realize its impossible & maybe thats y it gets achieved.Mom said to only feel & say positive things. Your Farishtey (angels) are always listening & fulfill ur words. My Farishtey work overtime.”

In the same introspective mood, the actor, reportedly  said in an online interview, that he was planning to retitle his book Forty Years of a Decade. “I was writing a book called 20 Years of a Decade, because it seemed to me that after working for 10 years, I lived two lifetimes! Suddenly it is 20 years and the book is still not out. So I guess I will have to make it 40 years now. I’ve crammed so much work and so much life into these 20 years that I don’t even know,” he was quoted to have said. He also spoke about how he and his family chat up at unusual hours and that is when they often ask him if he is a workaholic.

“You know, yesterday I was sitting with my family and it was like 2 in the morning. I had just come back and I had a bit of a headache because it was cold. They said, ‘Do You like working so much?’ and I said, ‘Yes, I don’t know what else to do because it doesn’t seem like work to me. Whenever I go to work, I just go out and start acting or singing or dancing or being with people, and just making them happy. So it doesn’t seem like work,” he told the interviewer.

Shah Rukh was clearly in a gregarious mood as he thanked all those people who had made his film journey memorable and fruitful: “Twenty years have just passed by like this. My son is 14-years-old, 15 this year and I didn’t even realise it. It has been worth it all... I used to think I am responsible, now I have become a little humble and I see that a lot of other people are responsible (for his success).”
