'Master' director Lokesh Kanagaraj tests positive for COVID-19, gets admitted to private hospital

Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi starrer 'Master' director Lokesh Kanagaraj, on Monday, revealed that he has tested positive for the novel coronavirus. He has revealed that he is currently undergoing treatment in a private hospital.

Penning a note on his verified Twitter account, Lokesh wrote, "Hello everyone. Writing this to inform all my friends, family, and well-wishers that I have tested positive for Covid-19 and have been admitted to a private hospital where I’m being taken good care of. Will be back soon & stronger."

As for 'Master', the film that was released on January 13, 2021, after a long wait. Within 20 days, it streamed on the popular OTT platform Amazon Prime Video too. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film managed to enter Rs 100 crore club in the first week of its release. In the first five days, Master had minted Rs 101 crore net plus.

And in the next few days, the film made a collection of Rs 125 crore at the domestic box office. The film has crossed the collections of Vijay's 2016 release 'Theri'.

Earlier while talking about his role in 'Master' and the film's digital release, Vijay had said in a statement, "In the film, I am essaying the character of an alcoholic college professor named John Durairaj, who is transferred to a juvenile school, that’s where he meets his archnemesis Bhavani, played by Vijay Sethupathi who has been using the children of the school in question for his own personal profit. I am certain that the interesting duel between John and Bhavani will take the audiences on a roller-coaster ride of action, and drama. I am glad that the fans can enjoy the film on Amazon Prime Video in India and across the world."
