Arya Babbar to introduce masala comedy in theatre

He’s playing multiple roles not only in reel life but in real life too. The latest feat for Arya Babbar being, he has turned playwright.

Babbar just finished writing his play called Gorkhi aur Tinku ke Kaarnaame. Going by the name, it is easy for one to assume that the play revolves around the two characters Gorkhi and Tinku. However, not everyone knows that Gorkhi happens to be Arya’s pet name. And of course Tinku is none other than Gorkhi’s best buddy.

Elaborating on the play, he says, “I just wanted to stage the adventures that Tinku and I had in our childhood. Each scene narrates our notorious tales as kids.” Babbar also left no stone unturned to bring out the original element in the story. Hence, he actually convinced his friend Tinku to act in the play. “ It comes like refreshment to me as I penned down the scenes in the act, I couldn’ t help but relive those fun moments,” he recalls.

Though he has already finished writing the play, it is still in its infancy and will be opened next week.

The actor was shooting in Poland for an upcoming movie but is determined to take up his maiden theatre act as a playwright seriously. “Now that I am back, I’m rehearsing without a delay and look forward to staging the play,” adds Babbar.

What prompted Babbar the most to write his play was the desire to add some masala in theatre productions. “I felt there was a dire need to introduce the concept of masala comedy in theatre where people go to have their two hours of escapism,” he ends.
