2-day conference of Hypertension society of India from Oct 29

Around 500 delegates, including some from abroad, are expected to attend the two-day 20th edition annual conference of Hypertension Society of India in association with Department of Medicine, Kohikode Medical College, from October 29.

Speaking to reporters today, Dr P K Sasidharan, Organising Secretary, said that three international faculty including Dr Peter Magner, Professor and Head, Division of Nepthrology, the Ottawa hospital, the University of Ottawa, Canada would lead the discussions.

Dr Torben Pindborg, Department of Medicine, hospital of Svendborg DK-5700 Svendbord, Denmark and Dr Venkata S Ram, Medical Director, Texas Blood Pressure Institute, Director of Medical Education and Research, Vice President, American Society of Hypertension, Dallas, Tx, USA would also participate in the discussions, he said.

The theme of the conference, was 'prevention of hypertension and treatment in the primary care setting', he said.

Among the paper to be presented at the conference included 'recording and monitoring of blood pressure', 'newer innovations in hypertension management', 'lifestyle, diet and exercise intervention' and 'hypertension and diabetes-do we treat them differently', he said.
