Heavy rains in parts of Saurashtra and south Gujarat have created a flood-like situation in several towns and cities in the region with normal life thrown out of gear. On Wednesday, heavy rains continued in the two regions for the third consecutive day, causing major water-logging on the roads and damaging rail tracks which led to cancellation of several trains.

Districts like Devbhumi Dwarka, Junagadh, Porbandar and Gir Somnath in Saurashtra have witnessed heavy rainfall while Navsari and Dang districts in south Gujarat received considerable downpour in the last few days. On Wednesday, officials said around 15 villages across the affected regions were marooned as a result of the incessant downpour. Educational institutions in these regions remained closed. Four teams of NDRF have been deployed in Gir Somnath district and three teams in Vadodara.
