As results for all 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra have been declared, a BJP-Shiv Sena alliance is set to return to power but government formation may be delayed as Sena is pressing BJP for the '50-50 formula'.

With the 50-50 formula, it seems that Shiv Sena wants BJP to agree on taking turns in holding chief minister's post as it vows to see Uddhav's son Aaditya Thackeray as the chief minister and not the deputy.

Speaking on the pre-poll alliance, Uddhav Thackeray in a presser on Thursday said, "The 50-50 formula was decided. Discussions should be held and then it should be decided that who would be the Chief Minister (of Maharashtra)."

Adding further, Uddhav said that before the election, a 50-50 formula was decided when Amit Shah visited his residence, prior to the Lok Sabha elections. It is now time to implement it, saying they can't be accommodating every time.

Ahead of the Maharashtra elections, Shiv Sena's demand was that both the parties (they and BJP) should contest on an equal number of seats, however, playing negotiations well due to its stellar performance in the Lok Sabha elections, BJP contested on more seats than the former party.
