West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday hit out at the Centre and said that Chandrayaan-2 is an attempt to divert attention from the economic disaster.

Speaking in the state assembly, Mamata Banerjee said, "As if the Chandrayaan launch is the first in the country. As if before they came to power, no such missions were taken up. It is an attempt to divert attention from economic disaster."

"You are sending Chandrayaan missions to the moon, make multi-stories there," she added.

However, it seems that Bengal chief minister's remarks on Chandrayaan did not go well with the people. Let's take a look at how tweeple are taking Mamata Banerjee's statement on Chandrayaan-2.

Hitting out at Centre on the issue of NRC, Mamata Banerjee said that you may manage US, Russia and Israel but do not try to manage Bengal.

During Rajiv Gandhi’s regime, Assam Accord was signed to return peace and tranquility. This was not acceptable to any other states. We will not accept NRC in Bengal. I welcome Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s statement that they will also not implement NRC in their state.

"Want to thank everyone who supported us in this resolution. Hopefully, someday they will also understand who have destroyed the institutions of the country. This is a political vendetta," she said.

"All pillars of democracy, media, judiciary all being run by central advisories. Names of genuine Indians excluded from the NRC list. Out of the total 19th lakh, more than 17 lakh are Bangla language speaking and 11 lakh are Hindus," Mamata said.

"We don’t want 'tukde tukde' of the country. Do not divide the nation on religion. We want peace and not riots," the Bengal CM said.

"Just as we have a Punjab state, a state on the other side — in Pakistan is also Punjab. Just because our state’s name we wanted to change the name to Bangla." (Photo: ANI)

"I echo the words of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. Concentrate more on the economy than on political vendetta," Mamata Banerjee said.

Taking a dig at senior BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargia, she said, "Vijaywargiya’s speech that if we come to power will make police polish our shoes. What language is this? One has to polish their own shoes. This language is not acceptable." (Photo: PTI)
