October 26, 2018 will always be a red-letter day in India’s aviation history when the first indigenously overhauled Su-30 MKI fighter aircraft was handed over to the Operational Squadron of the Indian Air Force at 11 Base Repair Depot in Ojhar today.
In the landmark event, Air Marshal Hemant Sharma, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Maintenance Command handed over the indigenously overhauled Su-30MKI aircraft to Air Marshal HS Arora, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of South Western Air Command at Air Force Station, Ojhar.
Air Cmde Samir V Borade Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station Ojhar, thanked all air warriors and the personnel of HAL (Nasik Division) for their active involvement and support in achieving this important milestone for the depot and Indian Air Force.
The depot is the only fighter aircraft repair depot of Indian Air Force and has the rich history of undertaking the overhaul of Su-7, MiG-21, MiG-23 and MiG-29 fighter aircraft. The depot presently undertakes up gradation of MiG-29, Repair & Overhaul of Su-30 MKI aircraft and overhaul of Su-30MKI ejection seats and role – equipment, both for HAL and IAF.
