All opposition parties should work together to defeat BJP: Mamata Banerjee

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday once again reached out to the opposition parties asking them to work together to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Mamata Banerjee while addressing the state assembly today said, "All opposition parties should work together to defeat BJP."

Not a first time when Mamata Banerjee has upped the ante against the BJP. Ever since BJP managed to win 18 Lok Sabha seats in the recently concluded General Elections 2019, and TMC's seat tally hit a low, Mamata Banerjee has been seen more aggressive while taking on the BJP. 

Bengal witnessed several episodes of post-poll violence in which workers of both the parties lost lives. 

A couple of weeks ago, several BJP leaders including Kailash Vijayvargia, workers and party cadres took out a protest march against the law and order situation in the state.

Earlier, BJP's West-Bengal incharge had said that 'Jai Shri Ram' and 'Jai Maha Kali' will be party's slogans in the state. The party included 'Jai Maha Kali' in its band of slogans after Mamata Banerjee accused BJP of being a party of outsiders that does not understand Bengal's culture.

Prior to that, Mamata Banerjee was caught on camera asking police officials to take action against those chanting slogans like 'Jai Shri Ram'. In one of the post-poll incident, Mamata Banerjee got out of her vehicle when some men were chanting 'Jai Shri Ram' slogans while her convoy was passing on way to Bhatpara.
