Ayodhya verdict: Hindu Mahasabha moves Supreme Court; files caveat

Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha filed a caveat in the Supreme Court (SC) on Monday to preempt any ex-parte order on the Ayodhya title dispute.

In the caveat filed by its national president Swami Chakrapani, the mahasabha asked SC not to pass order on any appeal against the September 30 Allahabad high court verdict without hearing it.

The organisation’s general secretary Indira Tiwari said a petition was also likely to be filed, making it clear that it was not in favour of any compromise on the issue and wanted a legal solution to the dispute.

“We want only legal solution. We are against any type of compromise as we are in favour of constructing a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya,” she said, adding that the mahasabha would challenge the high court judgment in SC after getting its certified copies.

Tiwari said her organisation would like to achieve its objective with the cooperation of all those who were party to the title suit in the high court.

The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court had ruled on September 30 that the 2.77 acre disputed land in Ayodhya be divided into three parts among Hindus and Muslims.

It had held that place where a makeshift temple of Lord Ram exists belonged to Hindus.
