The Congress on Tuesday released the third list of five candidates for the upcoming Delhi Assembly Election 2020, declaring nominees for five more seats.

The party has named Jai Prakash Panwar from the Madipur constituency, Mukesh Sharma from Vikaspuri, Parveen Rana from Bijwasan, Mohinder Chaudhary from Mehrauli and Parvez Hashmi from the Okhla seat.

With this third list, Congress has now announced candidates for 66 seats out of the 70 assembly constituencies in Delhi.

Yesterday, the Congress had released the second list of candidates for the Delhi polls, declaring nominees for seven seats.

Earlier still, in the first list released on Saturday, the party had announced 54 candidates.

Congress' opponents the AAP and the BJP have declared candidates for 70 and 67 seats, respectively. Tuesday is the last day to file nomination for the Delhi Assembly Election 2020.

The Delhi Assembly elections will be held on February 8 while counting of votes will be conducted on February 11. In the 2015 assembly elections, Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had swept the polls by winning 67 of the 70 seats. This time, the ruling AAP is locked in a triangular contest with the BJP and the Congress but is favourite to retain the Union Territory.

Nominations for the Delhi elections began last Tuesday and the last date to file the papers is January 21. The scrutiny of nominations will take place on January 22 while the last date of withdrawal of candidature is January 24.
