Today we will tell you what this stubble is and why there is an uproar on burning it. We will also tell you the effect on people's health due to the pollution caused by burning it.
Every year the problem of pollution in the capital city of Delhi and NCR becomes catastrophic. During this time, it becomes difficult for people to breathe. The main reason for this is the stubble burning after harvesting of paddy crops in Haryana and Punjab. There is also politics from Delhi to Haryana for the burning of stubble.
The Supreme Court has also expressed concern about this matter many times. Keeping the people's health in mind, the Supreme Court said it is imperative to have good health everywhere in Delhi, Punjab, or Haryana. The Supreme Court had asked the central government to form a task force to prevent farmers from burning stubble.
Today we will tell you what this stubble is and why there is an uproar on burning it. We will also tell you the effect on people's health due to the pollution caused by burning it.
What is Stubble?
Stubble is called the remaining part of paddy, which has its roots in the earth. After harvesting the paddy crop, the farmers cut off its valuable upper part, and the remaining is left in the field, which is not of any use to the farmer. The fields have to be emptied to sow the next crop, so the farmers set fire to the crop's remaining part, dry stubble.
What is the problem with Stubble Burning?
Farmers in Haryana and Punjab cultivate wheat and paddy for 6-6 months. During this time, after harvesting a crop, farmers burn the straw to clean the field. Smoke arising after the burning of starch causes air pollution. Especially the stubble burning by the farmers of Haryana and Punjab increases the pollution level in Delhi.
What do farmers say?
Farmers are still doing this despite instructions not to burn starch. Farmers clearly say that either they should be suggested other options or will continue to do so. In Jind, Haryana, the Bharatiya Kisan Union openly challenged the administration. It said to register a case by burning stubble, while on the other hand, the Agriculture Department is taking action against those who burn the straw. Notices have been given to many farmers in District Jind itself. FIR has also been registered on many farmers.
Farmers also say that the foreign machine to press the stubble into the ground is very expensive, and it is very difficult for the ordinary farmer to afford it. The government should find a solution, they say.
What are the orders of NGT?
The NGT has categorically refused to burn the stubble. According to this order, a fine of Rs 2500 for burning stubble is on 2 to 5 acres of land and Rs 5 thousand for burning the straw on more than 5 acres of land. NGT This fine is being taken to harm the environment.
What harm to health caused by burning straw?
The ozone layer is bursting with carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide gases in the smoke that comes out of burning the stubble. This leads to ultraviolet rays, which can prove fatal to the skin directly to the ground. Its smoke causes eye irritation. Breathing is difficult, and there is also a problem with lung diseases.
