The Centre has rushed National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) for flood relief in the state of Nagaland. Major roads including NH-29 has been cut off and there are power failures in various areas.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to CM Neiphiu Rio and said NDRF teams are being rushed to the state. He wrote on Twitter: “Spoke to Nagaland Chief Minister Shri @Neiphiu_Rio regarding the situation arising due to floods and landslides in several places of the State. NDRF teams are being rushed to the state by the MHA to carry out rescue and relief operations.”

 

The development came a day after CM Rio appealed for help. He also visited the Kiphire district ot take stock of the situation

 

 

President Kovind also urged people to help: “"Thoughts with families, particularly children, in Nagaland that have been affected by heavy rains. Urge govt authorities, relief agencies, civil society and citizens to band together and pool efforts. The entire nation stands by our fellow citizens in Nagaland.”
