Rahul shares food with tribals

KOTA: In yet another effort to strike a chord with rural people, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi paid a surprise visit to a hamlet near here and had dinner at the house of a tribal family.
    
Rahul shared the dinner with the family of Birbal Sahariain at Amroli during his night stay in the district which is a BJP stronghold, sources said.
    
The visit was to gauge the prospects of the Congress in the assembly elections in Rajasthan due later this year, the sources claimed.
    
The Amethi MP interacted with residents of the area and talked to them about the progress of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Yojna (NREGY) to find out whether the project was being properly implemented besides other issues.    

Gandhi's visit though unannounced was a scheduled one and authorities had made full security arrangements, the sources added.
    
He was accompanied by an Alwar MLA and two others.
