On the occasion of Sardar Vallabhai Patel’s 146th birth anniversary, President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered and paid tribute to him, honouring his achievements and his sacrifices for the country.

President Ram Nath Kovind took to Twitter to remember Sardar Patel, who is also known as the ‘Iron Man of India’, and said that the people of India will forever remember his part in establishing a work culture based on morality and service to the nation.

President Kovind said, “My humble tributes on the birth anniversary of Iron Man, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. A symbol of the unity of the country, Sardar Patel occupies a high place among our foremost nation-builders. The countrymen will always be indebted to Sardar Patel for establishing a work culture based on morality and service to the nation.”

 

 

PM Modi also remembered Sardar Patel on his birth anniversary and commended how his priority was always national interest and wanted the country to be capable, inclusive, sensitive, alert, humble and developed. He said, “Today, deriving inspiration from him, the country is becoming fully capable of meeting both external and internal challenges.”

 

 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also honoured Sardar Vallabhai Patel today and paid floral tribute at the Statue of Unity in Kevadia. He recognized Sardar Patel’s sacrifice and dedication towards serving the country and said that he is an inspiration to all citizens.

Amit Shah tweeted, “Sardar Sahib's dedication, loyalty, struggle and sacrifice for the motherland inspire every Indian to dedicate himself for the unity and integrity of the country. On the birth anniversary of such a great craftsman of united India, salutations at his feet and best wishes to all the countrymen on ‘National Unity Day’.”

 

 

Sardar Vallabhai Patel was the first deputy prime minister and home minister of India, and his birth anniversary, October 31, is observed as National Unity Day ('Rashtriya Ekta Diwas') to honour and celebrate his dedication towards serving and unifying India.
